Well hello there

Hang tight! This will be a long one.

I haven't blogged since the end of the summer.  FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) hit me hard =)

Here's what I've been up to:

Integrating with the MBAs -
I'm in the Caribbean Ocean and have 70 new friends!  We're known as the "fun ones"!

I also have my new core team (Rupali from India/New Zealand, Pat the pilot from the Navy, Eran from Israel, Joey from the financial world of NYC, Jenny from SF, and Oscar from Mexico)! We bonded from the very beginning with our team building exercises.

Did MIT IronNerd with fellow Sloanies

Went on the boat with Sloanies at the Sea-function

Made an LGO Ambassador Day Invitation Video with fellow LGOs
Did a lot of Fall fun stuff

Prep'ed for Kate's bridal shower/bachelorette party

Participated in the Sloan Olympics with Caribbean pride!

Went camping in NH with LGOs

Baby shower for Scott and Jamie

Went camping with Sloanies

Ran my first marathon with Karen!  Guadalupe came to support too!

Became MoH at Kate and Matt's wedding

Went to the annual NH trip with Lisa and the rest of AXOs

Ran my second marathon.  NYC baby!  Thanks to Karen, Moji, Friends4Michael Foundation, family, and friends, Evelyn and Liz for extra support!

Hosted the LGO Ambassador Day with CK and fellow LGOs.  So happy many of you were able to make it!

Wow, that's lots of stuff for 2.5 months.  Told ya to hang in tight!

August and the end of Summer

Tomorrow is the first day of Sloan MBA orientation where the LGOs are officially part of the larger MBA class.  I'm excited to meet the new friends, yet sad to not see my LGO people everyday and wishing that summer was a bit longer.

LGO did not keep me working all day/night and weekends, and I certainly had my fair share of summer fun of beaches, outdoor activities and a getaway to Vegas.  However, I still feel sad that August is coming to an end, and so is summer.

A bit of reflection:  I'm very happy with the growth that my team and I have had this summer.  We have grown to be much more open and learn so much from each other.  I think our development has really shown in our work in System Optimization, Stat PaperCopter project, and group leadership essay.  We were able to be so efficient at dividing tasks, yet no one felt left behind.  We took time to update and create the sense of discovery for our teammates.  As for me, I really learned to trust my co-workers and delegate - something I wasn't so good at previously.

All the development really paid off in the end when we had so many group projects due at the same time.  The work did not force me to stay in and work more than it's been; we were able to divide and conquer and kept open communication.  As a result, I learned everything those projects were designed to teach and still have time to do all the outside activities I normally do.

Here's a recap of August:

Free Red Sox game at Fenway with CK, Juliana, Liz and Jeremiah. Look at the beautiful sky!

Sailing in the Charles with Evelyn and LGO/SDMs

Trip to Walden Pond for a practice swim with Evelyn and Kate

Moving to the new Apt where I'm now living with Esther (a fellow LGO) and Megan (a friend back in undergrad).  My place is tiny, but I'm loving the cosiness, price and short 15-min walk commute to Sloan!

Chilling near Boston Seaport area

Getting asked to be Liz' bridesmaid!

Being an usher at Julie's wedding

Visits from Yuri and Lisa with trips to Goo Goo Dolls/Matchbox 20 Concert and SOWA Sunday market

A week of rest at home

Triathlon with Julia!

It's been a great summer, and I look forward to new adventures that Fall will bring as well as the beautiful Fall foliage in New England!

A bonus: LGO celebrating the end of summer classes:
Pics of Yiyin, Nick, me, CK, and Evelyne taken and modified by Esther!

Wish me luck tomorrow!

Visits visits visits

Fourth of July (pics from Ammar)

Introducing your Ambassador Day co-chairs.  CK and I are so excited to see you that we can't control ourselves!
As I calmed down, I stole CK's sister, who's also an AXO!

And all the LGOs ate happily and watched the 4th of July at the best location in town.

Then the CLGOs came to visit us.  We had a bunch of parties with them; here's one I organized (pics from Alby):
Goodbye CLGOs.  We had a great globalization discussion with the CLGOs facilitated by Leigh Hafrey, our leadership professor:

Can't wait to visit the CLGOs in Shanghai in March!

Post CLGO bar hop:

Then I left my team (Pete and Alex) working on the Operations Management simulation while I went to Vegas for MIT Pi Reunion (3.14 years after undergraduate study graduation).

It's been a long fun month with lots of work and lots of play!
